Teacher on Judging Panel for Great Books that Explore Feelings – the “EmpathyLab” Project

One of our teachers, Paul Harris, is on the judging panel for the 2021 Read for Empathy collection, selecting books which make us “laugh, cry, and crucially, hope.”

The latest Read for Empathy Book Collections will feature 50 superb books; 33 for 4-11 year olds and 17 for 12-16 year olds.

Some illuminate the experience of people from a range of cultures or life circumstances. Others help children explore emotions, so they can understand how other people feel. Several reflect stories of our time, such as the refugee experience, or coping with anxiety. All are engaging and thought-provoking.

Paul says:

“I am delighted to be on the judging panel for the third year.

All the judges are reading away and we’ll have a new collection ready to announce to you in January. Empathy Day: the date is set. It’s 10 June 2021, with a special Countdown Week June 3-10. Do get it in the diary!
